Tyler Winklevoss Questions Kamala Harris’ Absence from Crypto Roundtable

Tyler Winklevoss, co-founder of the crypto exchange Gemini, was puzzled when Kamala Harris failed to attend the crypto roundtable, which took place in August. 8.

“All she required is an internet connection,” Tyler said in an article on X.

Kamala Harris is the current U.S. Vice President and the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate for the forthcoming election. Her primary opponent would be Donald Trump, the former president who has been increasingly promoting his crypto-friendly policies, including the vow that he will end Joe Biden’s “war against crypto” should he be elected.

Biden is not running after he quit and also endorsed his VP. Many observers believe this provided Harris the chance to hit the “reset button” on her party’s position regarding crypto.

However, this Bitcoin BTC1.36 per cent Bitcoin 2024 event that Trump attended was an opportunity that she did not take advantage of. The critics also point out that Harris is yet to publicly speak about crypto. There are also observations suggesting that Operation Chokepoint 2.0 is still in existence.

Interestingly, there is a good chance that the U.S. has about 50 million crypto users who would like their votes to count, which makes this the U.S. the top destination for innovation in blockchain and crypto.

“Technical issues?’ asked Winklevoss.

Crypto certainly wants Harris to clarify her position explicitly and provide some guidelines on what her future administration will look like in relation to cryptocurrency. Trump has already made that promise and has also said that she will never let go of Bitcoin stakes to the U.S. government’s Bitcoin stake, firing Gary Gensler and urging policy-makers to create the first Bitcoin reserves.

What does this mean? Harris was required to attend the gathering. It’s possible, but the crypto roundtable was held in August. Eight was attended by many of the most senior White House officials.

However, the event was online, and Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss could not ignore a poke at the actress for her “no program.”

“I know she’s currently on the campaign trail however this meeting was not in person. All she required was an Internet connection. Problems with technicality?” the Gemini co-founder posted on X.

Tyler has also ruled out the Crypto4Harris campaign, which claims to be a “grassroots” initiative to find a different approach to crypto policy to the Harris for presidential campaign.

The most interesting (comical?) part of the Crypto4Harris plan is their “nuanced” crypto-policy approach. As if being nuanced is the appropriate corrective measure for an Administration that tried to nuke our entire industry. I guess it was a mostly peaceful war on crypto. pic.twitter.com/PXOwQDsyja— Cameron Winklevoss (@cameron) August 9, 2024

Who was at the roundtable?

According to a publication published by The Block, attendees included Wally Adeyemo, the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, as well as Lael Brainard, Director of the U.S. National Economic Council Director. Kamala Harris‘ director of legislative affairs, Kristine Lucius, was also in attendance.

The event was the second at the White House and saw industry people like Ripple Chief Executive Officer Brad Garlinghouse, Circle’s Jeremy Allaire as well as Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal.

Uniswap, Stellar Development Foundation, Kraken, and crypto venture capitalist Andreessen Horowitz included their top executives present.
